BLUE MORMON JUNGLE HOLIDAY RESORT is named after blue mormon butterfly (Papilio Polymnestor) rarely seen in these hills. You can see them in flights from beginning of June to the middle of June. The resort is located in sahyadri hills near the Bhimashankar, a holy place, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. .
Bhimashankar temple is buzzing temple with beautiful architecture. The temple is rather impressive and beautifully carved. The temple is composite of old and new structures and is built in nagara style of architecture. The great Maratha ruler KING SHIVAJI MAHARAJ is said to have made endowments to this temple to facilitate the carrying out of worship service. Temple is surrounded by wild life sanctuary.
Bhimashankar wild life sanctuary is situated in the main sahyadri range over 2500 ft above sea level. The area is densely forested with majestic towering trees festooned with numerous green creepers and is richer in fauna as compared to the rest of peninsular India.
